The purpose of this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) is to enhance the quality, relevance, and availability of health and safety training for miners in the Western United States. The program aims to complement existing MSHA, OSHA, and state-supported training programs and address unmet needs specific to Western mining operations. The objectives of the program include identifying and addressing specific health and safety training needs, developing and delivering miner health and safety training, creating and implementing "train-the-trainer" programs, increasing the number of qualified instructors, evaluating training effectiveness, and collaborating with existing programs to avoid duplication.
