Nome Joint Utility System Bulk Fuel Facility ODPCP Renewal

The Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) is reviewing an application package for an Oil Discharge Prevention and Contingency Plan renewal from the Nome Joint Utility System. The facility consists of one tank farm with four 847,000-gallon bulk storage tanks, four 20,000-gallon intermediate tanks, and one 23,000-gallon maintenance tank for a total tank farm capacity of 3,463,446-gallons. Diesel fuel is the only product stored in large volume. The facility is located near the mouth of the Snake River on the north shore of Norton Sound. • The public comment period for this application begins on May 26, 2026, and ends at 11:59 p.m. on June 24, 2026. • Requests for additional information and comments must be received by 11:59 pm on June 24, 2026. • The application package is available for public review on DEC’s website. • DEC will hold a public hearing on the plan application if it determines that good cause exists.
