Description

Morehead State University’s Space Science Center seeks a complete, turn‑key 12‑ or 13‑meter dual‑band (S‑band/X‑band) satellite ground‑station system. The contractor must deliver the antenna, feed system, control and monitoring software, documentation, testing, installation, and training, with optional RF subsystems if desired, all within an 18‑month performance period. The solution must meet stringent performance criteria (0.11 mm RMS surface accuracy, system‑temperature limits of 145 K (S‑band) and 150 K (X‑band), pointing accuracy of 0.005°), and be ready for integration into the university’s existing antenna array. Key deliverables include CAD models, build‑to‑drawings, FAT and site‑acceptance test reports, operator manuals, a 12‑month warranty, and a spare‑parts list supporting 36 months of operation. • Provide a 12 m or 13 m Cassegrain reflector with rigid backup structure and full‑motion drive (360° azimuth, 90° elevation). • Include dual‑band feed, control‑unit hardware, software for satellite tracking, and optional high‑power transmit/low‑noise receive chains. • Perform design reviews, FAT, on‑site installation, commissioning, training, and deliver all required documentation and spare‑parts support.

Budget estimate

$2,000,000 – $5,000,000

The RFP does not disclose a contract ceiling, but comparable university‑scale satellite ground‑station procurements typically range from $2 million to $5 million, depending on optional RF subsystems, integration complexity, and warranty/maintenance provisions. Assuming a mid‑size antenna (12 m) with full dual‑band capability, FAT, installation, and training, the likely contract value would fall in the $2‑5 M range.
