Description
The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority is seeking qualified engineering firms to perform a system‑wide DC power‑system load‑flow and protection study. The work will involve creating, validating, and running a comprehensive model of the MBTA’s DC traction power network, identifying protective‑relay upgrades, and providing support for the implementation of those upgrades. The effort is organized in two phases, with Phase I covering model development and upgrade planning and Phase II covering implementation support, and the contract will run for five years with two optional one‑year extensions.
• Develop and validate a system‑wide DC power model using non‑proprietary software.
• Define protective‑relay upgrades and produce design‑support documentation.
• Provide construction‑phasing, cost‑estimating, and resilient‑design assistance for upgrade implementation.
• Submit a qualified‑firm Statement of Qualifications (SF‑330) by June 23, 2026; attend an optional virtual briefing on June 8, 2026.
