CFEC - ESSN Administrative Area Application Information Letter

The Alaska Commercial Fisheries Entry Commission (CFEC) is opening an application window for current S04H set‑net permit holders to have their permits reassigned to a newly created East Side Set Net administrative area (Area “I”) in Cook Inlet. Applicants must have fished in one of six designated statistical areas (244‑21, 244‑22, 244‑31, 244‑32, 244‑41, 244‑42) during any year from 2020‑2024 and provide acceptable proof of participation (fish tickets, buoy tags, or supporting lease/registration documents). Those who received their permit via an immediate family member may also qualify if they can document the family member’s participation and prove the relationship. Applications are to be submitted with the 2027 Permit Renewal form between October 1 and December 31 2026 (postmarked by Dec 15 if mailed). Decisions will be issued by January 31 2027, with an appeal window to the Alaska Superior Court until March 1 2027. No payment is to be sent with the application; payment processing begins after January 1 2027. • Open to all current S04H permit holders who fished in the specified areas 2020‑2024. • Required documentation: fish ticket(s) (preferred), buoy tag, or lease/registration plus one of the primary documents. • Family‑member transfers allowed with proof of relationship (birth, death, marriage certificates or notarized affidavits). • Application period: Oct 1 – Dec 31 2026 (mail postmarked by Dec 15). • Submission via CFEC Juneau office, mail, or email ([email protected]). • Decision by Jan 31 2027; appeal by Mar 1 2027.
