J--Notice of Intent to Sole Source FEI Company (Thermo Fisher Scientific) Service

The National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) intends to negotiate and award a purchase order on a sole source basis to FEI Company (Thermo Fisher Scientific) for a service agreement to maintain the Apreo2-C Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope and EDS UltraDry 60M (129 eV) instrument. The service agreement is necessary to ensure the continued satisfactory operation of the instrument after the warranty expiration. The scope of work includes replacement units and upgrades of the system necessary to keep the units operable. • The instrument must be properly maintained with unique specifications that only the OEM, Thermo Fisher Scientific, can maintain. • FEI Company is the only authorized service provider for repair and maintenance in the United States for the Apreo 2C LoVac. • No known potential alternate sources exist that could satisfy NETL's requirements.
