Description

The Winooski Natural Resources Conservation District is seeking proposals for the Cheesefactory Road riparian buffer planting project. The project aims to restore land adjacent to the Muddy Brook by establishing a forested riparian buffer, which will improve water quality, stabilize streambanks, and reduce nutrient loading. The selected contractor will be responsible for site preparation, plant procurement, and installation. The project is expected to start in May 2026 and be completed by December 31, 2026. • The project is located on two privately owned parcels in Shelburne and South Burlington, Vermont. • The contractor will need to develop a site preparation and planting plan in coordination with the Winooski NRCD, Vermont Audubon, and landowners. • The plan must incorporate only woody species native to Vermont and include a list of tree species, quantities, and per-stem costs. • The contractor will need to provide proof of a valid herbicide applicator license and assemble a crew to treat invasive species. • The contractor will also need to collect pre- and post-treatment photographs and submit them as a contract deliverable. • Long-term management will focus on invasive species control, promoting native shrub growth, and maintaining conditions that support wildlife.
