Liquid Sodium Hydroxide (Caustic Soda)

The City of Newport News is seeking bids from qualified firms to furnish Liquid Sodium Hydroxide (Caustic Soda) on an as-needed basis to Newport News Waterworks. The contract will be awarded to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder. The estimated annual quantity required is 484,000 lb. Deliveries shall be made to the Lee Hall Water Treatment Plant. The contractor shall provide bulk 25% (by weight) +/- 0.5% sodium hydroxide (NaOH) that meets or exceeds ANSI/AWWA standard B501-25 or subsequent revisions. • The contract will be for a term of one year with the option to renew for four additional one-year periods. • The City reserves the right to request a reduction in price based on economic factors or market conditions. • The contractor shall maintain adequate liability insurance and provide proof of insurance prior to commencement of services. • The contractor shall comply with all federal and state statutory regulations pertaining to Workers' Compensation requirements. • The City encourages small, women-owned, minority-owned, and service disabled veteran-owned businesses to participate in the procurement process.
