Chlorine Gas Cylinders

The City of Pittsburgh is seeking bids for the supply of chlorine gas cylinders. The contract will be for a period of 2 years with two 1-year options to renew. The awarded vendor must be able to provide up to 250 chlorine gas cylinders during the months of May, June, July, August, and September. The bid price should be for the unit cost of each gas cylinder, based on possible total yearly order amounts up to 250 chlorine gas cylinders. The City is looking for a vendor who can provide high-quality chlorine gas cylinders that meet the specifications outlined in the bid document. Some key features of the required chlorine gas cylinders include: • Liquid chlorine gas to be supplied shall be in accordance with AWWA B301 spec, latest edition, per CWT • Elemental (liquid) chlorine, under pressure (gas) chlorine, must be at least 99.9% pure chlorine • Must be in 150-pound containers • Minimum of two lead washers (fiber not acceptable) must be provided with every tank • Tanks must be fitted with non-leaking valve suitable to control flow of gas (hydrostatic test 500 pounds per square inch) • Not sodium hypochlorite The City is also looking for a vendor who can provide excellent customer service, including timely delivery and pickup of empty cylinders. The vendor must also be able to provide a refundable deposit for each cylinder ordered, as well as restocking and replacement fees as outlined in the bid document.
