Description:
The Tactical Behaviors for Autonomous Maneuver Collaborative Research Program (TBAM-CRP) is focused on developing and experimentally evaluating coordinated and individual behaviors for small groups of autonomous agents to learn doctrinal as well as novel tactics for maneuvering in military relevant environments. The program will consist of a series of sprint efforts executed with annual program reviews, with each topic addressing a different set of scientific areas to support the research aims of an associated ARL researcher. Proposals are expected to be bid at a cost commensurate with the level of effort, including potential option periods. The program is open to institutions of higher education, nonprofit organizations, and for-profit organizations, with eligibility for awards subject to certain conditions. Key areas of focus include novel collaborative maneuver behavior approaches, perception using multimodal sensing, and virtual-physical co-simulation. • The TBAM-CRP will leverage developments in other internal and extramural programs to find novel solutions to maneuver problems in analogical simulations representing complex realistic terrain. • The program will provide access to the ARL Autonomy Stack software suite and relevant simulation tools and multi-agent learning support. • The program aims to develop robust and resilient approaches to plan under extreme conditions of uncertainty and learn coordinated strategies for groups of agents to achieve a common objective. • Proposals should include a detailed budget and justification for overhead rates, with agreed-upon government-approved rates preferred. • Spending will be tracked via an accounting system requiring monthly expenditure reports, with discussion between the Government and awardee possible for unspent funding.
