K--Intent to Sole Source Telonics Radio Collar Repair

The National Park Service (NPS) intends to award a sole source contract to Telonics, Inc. for the refurbishment of nineteen Telonics TGW-4677 and five Telonics TGW-4577 GPS collars with CR-5 mechanisms. The GPS collars are used for tracking wildlife movement and supporting ongoing research and resource management efforts. The CR-5 mechanisms are required to enable remote release of the collars on pre-set dates. • The contract will be for the refurbishment of specific GPS collars. • The GPS collars are used for wildlife tracking and research. • The CR-5 mechanisms are required for remote release of the collars. • The contract will be awarded to Telonics, Inc., the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) of the GPS collars. • The contract is exempt from competitive quoting due to the need for compatibility with existing systems and the substantial duplication of cost that would result from using an alternate vendor.
