Description

NASA/NSSC has a requirement for High Fidelity Martian Regolith Simulant. The simulant should have specific characteristics such as particle size range, bulk density, angle of repose, and mineralogy. The contract will be awarded to Space Resource Technologies, but interested organizations can submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort. The period of performance is 3/2026 – 5/2026, and the shipping address is Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, AL. • The simulant should be research-grade and engineered to replicate the physical, chemical, and mineralogical characteristics of Martian surface material. • The particle size range should be >0.04 um to 1000 um with Martian surface representative particle size distribution. • The bulk density should be between 1.3 and 1.4 g/cm3. • The angle of repose should be between 30 and 40 degrees. • The mineralogy should include all listed minerals, comprising at least 95% of total weight. • The simulant should be available in a quantity of 1000 kg within 2 months of award.

Budget estimate

$100,000 – $500,000

The budget for this opportunity is not explicitly stated, but based on the requirements and the quantity of the simulant needed (1000 kg), a reasonable estimate would be in the range of $100,000 to $500,000. This estimate is influenced by the cost of research-grade materials, the complexity of the simulant's characteristics, and the shipping and handling costs.
