The Alaska Industrial Development and Export Authority (AIDEA) awarded a contract to HDR Alaska, Inc. to provide professional environmental consulting services required to obtain permits for the Ambler Access Project – a 211‑mile gravel road linking the Dalton Highway to the Ambler Mining District. The scope includes wetlands delineation, habitat and fish‑habitat assessments, air‑quality and noise analyses, agency coordination, permit preparation and acquisition, and public‑meeting facilitation, all under the supervision of Alaska‑registered engineers/architects/surveyors. The work is scheduled to commence in June 2021 and conclude by 31 December 2024, with field studies primarily in summer 2022–fall 2023 and subsequent design and review milestones. The solicitation allowed several pricing mechanisms (fixed‑price, FPPE, CPFF, T&E) and required compliance with Alaska licensing, insurance, and COVID‑19 management plans.
