Woods Full Removal Fuels Reduction Project

The South Dakota Department of Public Safety Wildland Fire program is soliciting proposals to conduct hazardous‑fuel reduction on roughly 54 acres of forest near Argyle, SD. The contractor will thin and treat pine, spruce, cedar, and juniper stands, remove or chip slash, and follow best‑management practices to lower wildfire risk. Work is expected to be completed within a one‑year contract period, with potential renewal. • Thin trees ≤ 10 in. DBH to achieve ~25 ft spacing, remove unhealthy trees first. • Limb and cut trees, then chip or pile slash with chip size ≤ 2 in. diameter, depth ≤ 4 in. or remove off‑site. • Follow environmental BMPs, provide GPS‑tracked progress, and may retain biomass for offset. • Site visits on July 23 and July 28 2026; written questions due July 31 2026; proposals due August 7 2026.
