Rotary-sonic Drilling in Beltrami, Itasca, Le Sueur, and Martin Counties in Minnesota

The University of Minnesota is seeking a drilling contractor to perform rotary-sonic drilling in four counties in Minnesota. The project involves drilling holes ranging from 102 to 430 feet deep in Beltrami, Itasca, Le Sueur, and Martin Counties. The successful bidder will be required to provide equipment capable of obtaining good quality, continuous, rotary-sonic core from holes as deep as 430 feet. The project is expected to start on or about October 5th, 2026, and will take approximately 8-12 weeks to complete. • The drilling project will involve drilling through glacial drift and into bedrock in the four counties. • The successful bidder will be required to provide certificates of insurance evidencing commercial general liability, automobile liability, workers compensation, and contractor's pollution liability. • The bidder must be a licensed drilling contractor in the state of Minnesota. • The project will involve down-hole geophysical logging, and the successful bidder will be required to abandon all holes in accordance with applicable state law. • The University of Minnesota will provide at least one staff member at the drill site to log, label, and box the core. • The successful bidder will be required to provide unit rates for rotary-sonic drilling at increasing depth intervals of up to 700 feet.
