Description

The Birmingham‑Jefferson County Transit Authority (BJCTA) is seeking a prime contractor to replace approximately 600 bus‑stop sign assemblies across its system. The work includes verification of existing stops, design and fabrication of three‑panel aluminum sign assemblies with QR codes, removal of old signage, installation of new poles (minimum 12 ft), construction of accessible concrete boarding pads where needed, utility coordination, permitting, and delivery of as‑built GIS inventories and warranty documentation. The contract will be awarded after a competitive RFP process, with a 5 % bid bond, performance and payment bonds equal to 100 % of the contract price, and compliance with Buy‑America, ADA, and MUTCD standards. The project must be completed within 270 calendar days from the start of field work.

Budget estimate

$800,000 – $2,000,000

No total contract value is disclosed. Estimating based on 600 sign assemblies, each roughly $1,200–$2,000 for design, fabrication, and installation, yields $720,000–$1,200,000. Adding concrete pad construction, utility coordination, permitting, and warranty documentation could add $200,000–$800,000. Therefore a realistic total contract range is approximately $800,000 to $2,000,000.
