Decedent Transport/Scene Removal

The University of New Mexico’s Office of the Medical Investigator is seeking qualified vendors to provide statewide decedent transportation services. The work includes moving bodies from holding facilities to OMI in Albuquerque, scene‑to‑holding‑facility transport, and return trips, across several defined geographic quadrants and counties. Vendors must operate 24/7, provide enclosed climate‑controlled vehicles capable of carrying at least two adult decedents, meet stringent background‑check, bonding, and insurance requirements, and submit detailed cost proposals based on per‑loaded‑mile and per‑decedent rates. Separate contracts will be awarded for each geographic area, with annual renewal options. • 24‑hour, 7‑day service with immediate dispatch for non‑refrigerated cases and delivery by 06:00 for refrigerated cases. • Vehicle requirements: enclosed, air‑conditioned cargo area, neutral appearance, capacity ≥2 adult bodies, PPE provision, and no external advertising. • Payment structure: $2.27 per loaded mile for the first decedent, $1.12 per loaded mile for each additional decedent; flat fees for central area and scene‑removal counties; invoicing weekly via OMI Excel template.
