Description

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) is soliciting quotations for insecticide spray application services at the Chico Seed Orchards within the Mendocino National Forest. The contract requires the application of government insecticides to control target pests that can destroy seeds in cones within the Center’s 16 seed orchard units. The contractor must supply spray equipment that can reach up to 90 feet high and provide full coverage to the top of the trees. The project is expected to begin in late April or early May 2026 and will last for approximately 130 days. • The contractor must have at least 4 to 5 high-pressure enclosed cab spray rigs in operation during the application. • The spraying must occur within a six-hour window between 1800 hours and 2400 hours. • Aerial applications are not permitted due to the proximity of residences and businesses to the facility. • The contractor must provide a plan of work, including a narrative explaining how they intend to complete the work, and must include the average number of employees performing the work, equipment used, and any subcontractors. • The contractor must provide copies of the current California Qualified Applicator Certificate (QAC) License.

Budget estimate

$100,000 – $500,000

The budget for this contract can be estimated based on the scope of work and the requirements of the project. The contractor must provide insecticide spray application services for 84 acres of land, with four daytime and four nighttime applications. The cost of the services will depend on the type and amount of insecticides used, as well as the equipment and labor required. A rough estimate for the cost of the project could be between $100,000 and $500,000, considering the cost of insecticides, equipment, and labor. However, this is a wide range and the actual cost could be higher or lower, depending on the specifics of the project. Factors that may influence the likely payment range include the cost of materials, labor costs, and the complexity of the project.
