Program Instructor Application - September 2026

The City of Avondale Parks, Recreation, and Libraries Department is seeking independent contractors to serve as program instructors for a variety of seasonal recreational, educational, and arts classes. Applicants submit a Program Instructor Application and a detailed program proposal; the City will review proposals, conduct interviews, and award contracts to qualified instructors. Instructors are responsible for delivering the curriculum, maintaining safety standards, handling registration through the City’s CivicRec system, and complying with background‑check, CPR/First Aid, and insurance requirements. Compensation is based on a 70 % share of program revenue (the City retains 30 %). The opportunity is open year‑round, with program seasons (Winter/Spring, Summer, Fall/Winter) each having their own proposal submission windows. Contractors must provide proof of general liability, workers’ compensation, and any additional required coverage, and must adhere to City marketing and facility use policies. • Open to any qualified individual or business that can deliver approved classes (youth, adult, fitness, arts, etc.). • No fixed bid deadline – applications accepted continuously; contracts are awarded as programs are scheduled. • Contractors supply their own staff, equipment, and materials; the City provides facility space and registration support. • Payment is revenue‑share (70 % to contractor) with invoices due within 10 days of the final class and payment made within 30 days. • Mandatory requirements: CPR/First Aid certification, background check, fingerprinting, insurance (minimum $1M general liability, workers’ comp, etc.). • Programs must meet minimum enrollment; cancellations may occur if enrollment thresholds are not met.
