Social Survey

The Department of the State Fire Marshal is issuing this Request for Information (RFI) to solicit information from entities regarding the creation and application of a Social Survey to build a baseline data set to understand Oregon's status in adapting to wildfire. The survey aims to collect information on the characteristics, attitudes, and behaviors of the population to analyze social conditions and inform research or policy. The RFI seeks recommendations for using the resulting data set to enable progress measurement in community wildfire adaptation work. Respondents should provide information on industry best practices for meeting the project goals, including the creation and implementation of the Social Survey, gaining meaningful response rates, and reducing the risk of Survey Fatigue. Some key points to consider: • The survey may include questions on defensible space, evacuation planning, home hardening, and community engagement • The survey may target various audiences, including the general public, contractors, fire service personnel, and recipients of grants • The RFI requires a maximum page length of 10 pages for the submitted Response, not including a one-page cover letter • The Response should be focused on industry best practices and address specific questions related to the project goals • The RFI is not a request for proposals, and it will not result in a contract or obligate the OSFM to procure goods or services.
