Description

The City of Port Angeles is seeking qualified firms to perform engineering design services for a residential safety improvement project along several corridors which have a documented history of crashes. The primary focus of the project is to improve yielding at intersections and reduce the severity of crashes. The selected consulting firm will perform engineering design of the safety improvement project, support City staff with public meetings and open houses, and produce plans, specifications, and estimates. The project includes the installation of mini-roundabouts, stop control visibility enhancements, marked crosswalks, and curb ramps for local street intersections. Key tasks include environmental documentation and permitting, 30% and 90% design packages, and assistance with public meetings and open houses. • The project is funded by a federal grant with 0% goals for DBE and FSBE and 10% voluntary SBE goal. • The project requires ADA compliance upon completion. • The selected firm will work with the City to produce plans, specifications, and estimates, and assist the City with public meetings and open houses. • The firm will be responsible for all aspects of the traffic circle design and the PS&E package, including surveying, engineering, completion of environmental documentation, and any necessary permits. • The project schedule includes preliminary engineering, environmental documentation, community engagement, and design submittals.

Budget estimate

$500,000 – $2,000,000

The budget for this project is not explicitly stated, but based on the scope of work and the fact that it is a federal grant-funded project, it is likely to be in the range of $500,000 to $2 million. The project involves the design and implementation of safety improvements at multiple intersections, which could include the installation of mini-roundabouts, crosswalks, and other traffic calming measures. The cost of these improvements can vary widely depending on the specific requirements of each intersection, but as a rough estimate, the total budget for the project could be around $1 million to $1.5 million. Factors that may influence the likely payment range include the complexity of the design, the number of intersections involved, and the cost of materials and labor.
