Notification of Availability of Software Framework, Warped Alloy, for Software Defined Radio (SDR) Signal Chain

The Department of the Army is announcing the availability of a software framework called Warped Alloy, designed to enhance the capabilities of Software Defined Radio (SDR) systems. This framework enables the SDR signal chain to dynamically adjust its capabilities based on the sensed RF environment and to respond at the protocol level in real-time. The key features of the framework include rapid reconfiguration, FPGA-based physical layer and media access control, and a user-friendly API. The Department of the Army is releasing this software framework to foster collaboration with industry partners and encourage the integration of this technology into their SDR products. • The framework allows for swift reconfiguration of the RF signal processing chain modules within the SDR's field programmable gate array (FPGA). • The framework enables the rapid development and implementation of a fully-customized PHY and MAC layer that supports various signals and waveforms. • The framework includes an FPGA top-level framework, API, transport interface, and exemplar data generation/consumption module. • Comprehensive documentation will be made available to assist industry partners in effectively utilizing the framework.
