Department of Veterans Affairs - Iowa Veterans Home Loftus and Malloy Water Infiltration-Flooding

The Iowa Department of Administrative Services (DAS) is seeking professional design services to mitigate basement water infiltration at the Iowa Veterans Home, Loftus Building and Malloy Building. The selected firm will be responsible for evaluating the building envelope, making recommendations for mitigating water infiltration, and providing design services for the recommended solutions. The firm will also be required to attend design kick-off meetings, provide cost opinions, and participate in construction administration. The contract will be a modified ConsensusDocs 803, and the firm will be required to provide professional liability insurance in the amount of $2 million. • The project includes evaluating buildings and identifying sources of water infiltration in the basement. • The project includes recommending building corrections to remediate water infiltration. • The project includes evaluating if any structural repairs are needed. • The project includes coordination with State agencies to confirm utilities that may be abandoned as well as shut down requirements where required. • The project includes providing detailed input of design schedule to Construction Manager for overall incorporation into master schedule. • The project includes quality control during Design, Preconstruction and Construction. • The project includes compliance with all Federal, State, and applicable AHJ codes.
