Description

The City of Spokane’s 2022 Cultural Incentive Grant provides competitive, reimbursable funding to support cultural events—festivals, parades, exhibitions, series, and similar community celebrations—held within Spokane in the 2022 calendar year. Applicants must be 501(c) non‑profits or fiscally‑sponsored businesses, demonstrate cultural relevance, and show that the grant will not exceed 50 % of direct event expenses. Grants range from $2,500 to $50,000 (reduced to $30,000 for LTAC recipients) and require post‑event reporting within 90 days. The program is funded with American Rescue Plan money and aims to expand cultural access, bolster event‑producer resilience, and promote economic vitality. • Eligible activities: venue rental, entertainment, technology, marketing, equipment rental, permits, insurance, and other direct vendor costs (capital equipment and indirect costs are ineligible). • Funding limit: up to 50 % of total direct expenses; minimum grant $2,500. • Application process: electronic submission via Spokane ProcureWare portal; pre‑application workshop held June 1, 2022; final deadline June 21, 2022 1:00 PM. • Reporting: post‑event evaluation within 90 days, receipts and proof of payment required; future cycles expected for 2023‑2024.

Budget estimate

$5,000 – $50,000

The grant awards range from $2,500 to $50,000 per project, with the average award hovering around $20,000‑$30,000 based on typical event budgets. Assuming a contractor provides the majority of direct services funded by the grant, earnings could fall between a modest $5,000 for smaller events and up to $50,000 for larger, fully funded productions. Factors influencing the budget include event size, scope of services, proportion of grant funding (max 50 % of expenses), and whether the applicant is an LTAC recipient (which caps the award at $30,000).
