The City of Somerville is seeking qualified contractors to replace and upgrade the water‑main network along McGrath Boulevard. The work includes removal of existing mains, installation of new duct‑ile pipe ranging from 8‑in. to 20‑in., provision of temporary water service for affected customers, and associated civil works such as trenching, backfill, and temporary asphalt paving. The contract is a fixed‑price lump‑sum with performance and payment bond requirements and includes a full‑winter‑season hold on temporary paving before final surfacing. • Replace existing water mains with new DI pipe (8‑in., 12‑in., 20‑in.) and associated fittings, valves, and backflow preventers. • Provide temporary water‑service bypass (4‑in. individual services, ≥ 6‑in. fire‑protection lines) for any customer out of service > 4 hours. • Perform traffic‑control, temporary asphalt paving (complete by Nov 2027, remain for a full winter), and site restoration to original condition. • Comply with Massachusetts prevailing‑wage, city living‑wage, OSHA‑10 safety, vulnerable‑road‑user, and wage‑theft ordinances; furnish 5 % bid bond, 100 % performance/payment bonds, and required certifications. • Project duration is approximately two years, with work commencing after award (early July 2026) and substantial completion required by 31 May 2028.
