Description

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) is seeking a contractor to provide rapid mycotoxin test kits for the determination of Aflatoxin, Deoxynivalenol (DON), Fumonisin, and Zearalenone in various grains and commodities. The contractor must provide a quantitative water-based extraction test kit capable of analyzing the specified mycotoxins within a certain testing range. The contract will be awarded on a best-choice basis, considering factors such as cost, test kit performance, and equipment requirements. The contractor must also provide training, technical support, and proof of an active FGIS Certificate of Conformance (COC) at the time of submission. Some key requirements for the test kits include: • Analyzing aflatoxin, DON, Fumonisin, and Zearalenone in various grains and commodities • Having a minimum testing range of 5ppb to 300ppb for aflatoxin, 0.5ppm to 30ppm for DON, 0.5ppm to 30ppm for Fumonisin, and 100ppb to 1000ppb for Zearalenone • Completing sample extraction and analysis in 30 minutes or less • Being simple to use, with no specialized scientific degree or high-level training required • Having a minimum shelf life of three months for all components of the test kit • Not requiring special waste disposal or exposing employees to toxic or hazardous substances higher than OSHA standards

Budget estimate

$200,000 – $1,000,000

Based on the document, the estimated annual requirement is 25,000 quantitative mycotoxin tests. Assuming an average cost per test of $10-$50, the total estimated annual budget would be $250,000 to $1,250,000. Over the 5-year contract period, the total budget would be $1,250,000 to $6,250,000. However, the document mentions an IDIQ ceiling of $1,000,000, which suggests that the total budget over the 5-year period should not exceed this amount. Therefore, a reasonable estimate for the budget would be between $200,000 and $1,000,000.
