Description

Montana State University’s College of Education, Health, and Human Development is seeking a single Dual Energy X‑Ray Absorptiometry (DXA) instrument for research and clinical use. The procurement is a sealed‑bid IFB (MSU‑IFB‑2026‑0831) with a bid opening on 20 May 2026 and a submission deadline of 3 June 2026. The vendor must supply a DXA system that meets detailed functional specifications (full‑body and regional bone‑density, body‑composition, visceral adipose tissue, abdominal aortic calcification), accommodate participants up to 400 lb, provide at least 24 in clearance, include on‑site training, automatic calibration, a 4‑5 year warranty (or separate warranty line‑item), and arrange for local, manufacturer‑affiliated service support without airfare. All required documentation proving compliance with the attached specifications must be attached to the bid; the university will not follow external links. Bids must be submitted through the Jaggaer e‑procurement portal, and if awarded the vendor must register in SmartBuyMSU and execute the contract via DocuSign. • Provide one DXA instrument meeting the functional and physical specs listed in ATTACHMENT 1. • Deliver, install, and verify the system at the university campus; include on‑site training for staff. • Offer automatic calibration capability and a 4‑5 year service warranty (or separate warranty). • Ensure a local, manufacturer‑direct service provider is available for ongoing maintenance (no airfare required). • Submit a sealed bid by 3 June 2026, including all required certifications (firearms‑entity nondiscrimination, HB 356, etc.) and required documentation (W‑9, company name, remit‑to address, liaison information).

Budget estimate

$150,000 – $300,000

No contract value is disclosed. A new dual‑energy X‑ray absorptiometry system with installation, training, a multi‑year warranty, and local service support typically costs between $150,000 and $300,000, depending on brand, optional accessories, and service agreements. Therefore the expected budget to the vendor falls within that range.
