Description

The U.S. Army is seeking a Portable Patient Transport System (PPTS) to safely transport patients with highly infectious diseases. The system must be certified for flight on multiple military airframes, be capable of being transported in select ambulances, and be operable and sustainable in austere environments. The system must protect the force, the platform, and the crew from contamination while allowing a high standard of medical care to the patient. Key features of the PPTS include: • Force protection through negative pressure differential, air filtration, and liquid containment • Patient care and comfort through visibility, pass-through interfaces, and glove ports • Regulatory compliance with FDA marketing authorization and airworthiness certification • Interoperability with various aircraft and ambulances • Airworthiness and transport requirements for airlift The Army intends to award multiple Prototype Other Transaction (OT) Agreements to offerors whose Solution Briefs are determined to be most advantageous to the Government. The evaluation criteria include technical merit, innovation, affordability, and programmatic approach.

Budget estimate

$10,000,000 – $50,000,000

The estimated budget for this opportunity is between $10 million and $50 million, based on the development and production of a portable patient transport system. The factors influencing this estimate include the complexity of the system, the number of units required, and the duration of the contract. The Army's budget for this project is not explicitly stated, but the estimated cost of similar projects in the medical equipment industry suggests a range of $10 million to $50 million.
