Z1DA--Renovate Patient Restrooms

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a qualified contractor to renovate patient restrooms throughout the Salem VA Medical Center. The work includes demolition of existing fixtures, structural infill for abandoned dumbwaiter shafts and depressed shower slab areas, installation of new wall‑hung water closets, lavatories, plumbing, electrical, and minor HVAC adjustments, as well as coordination of utility shutdowns, fire‑stop compliance, and adherence to infection‑control protocols. The contractor must provide delegated structural design, retain licensed engineers, and manage phasing to limit restroom outages to two per floor at any time. All work must meet VA specifications, ICRA Level IV containment, and be completed with minimal impact on hospital operations. • Scope: demolition, structural infill, new fixtures, plumbing, electrical, minor HVAC, fire‑stop, and finish work for multiple patient restrooms. • Required qualifications: licensed structural/PE, architect/engineer, ability to serve as Site Safety & Health Officer and Quality Control Manager (single individual acceptable). • Phasing limits: max two restrooms per floor out of service simultaneously; concurrent work across floors allowed with COR approval. • No temporary restroom facilities required; existing restrooms will serve patients during work. • All hazardous material surveys completed – no asbestos/lead present. • Project must comply with VA construction specifications, ICRA Level IV, and NPDES permit requirements.
