Downtown to Loop Pressure Zone (PZ) Conversion Project

The New Braunfels Utilities (NBU) is seeking qualified contractors to design, construct, test, and commission a water‑distribution upgrade known as the Downtown to Loop Pressure Zone (PZ) Conversion. The work includes roughly 5,700 linear feet of new 8‑ to 12‑inch watermain installed by both open‑cut and trenchless methods, installation of a main pressure‑reducing valve (PRV) and bypass PRV, grout‑fill abandonment of existing pipe, traffic control, storm‑water pollution prevention, site restoration, and all associated appurtenances (valves, gauges, strainers, vaults, coatings, etc.). The project will be executed under NBU’s technical specifications, Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) standards, and applicable state and local regulations, with extensive quality‑control testing, de‑watering, back‑fill, and final commissioning requirements. • Scope: 5,700 LF of new watermain, PRV vault assembly, trenching, de‑watering, back‑fill, traffic control, erosion control, and site restoration. • Methods: Open‑cut and trenchless (horizontal directional drilling/jacking). • Materials: Ductile‑iron pipe, PVC/FRP water service tubing, concrete vaults, steel brackets, ANSI/NSF‑61 compliant coatings. • Required testing: Compaction density, hydrostatic pressure, leak testing, disinfection, flushing, and commissioning. • Deliverables: Complete, operational PRV vault assembly, as‑built documentation, O&M manuals, and warranty certifications.
