Cleaning and Care of Interstate Rest Area-Spearfish, SD

The South Dakota DOT is seeking a single vendor to provide comprehensive caretaker services for the Spearfish interstate rest area (I‑90, milepost 1.0). The contractor will be responsible for daily cleaning of restroom facilities, routine building and grounds upkeep, minor plumbing and electrical repairs, snow/ice removal, waste management, water‑system monitoring, and an annual deep‑cleaning of the entire site. Performance will be measured against the DOT’s Caretaker’s Manual and includes regular reporting, compliance with state environmental and safety regulations, and adherence to a two‑year contract term. • Daily cleaning, rest‑room supply replenishment, and building upkeep (floors, walls, fixtures). • Grounds maintenance: mowing, irrigation, tree/shrub care, litter removal, snow/ice removal, and trash/recycling handling. • Minor plumbing/electrical fixes, water‑system chlorination, sewage‑lagoon monitoring, and annual deep‑cleaning by May 15 each year. • Required on‑site presence during peak season (minimum 6 hrs/day) and compliance with reporting, dress‑code, and liquidated‑damage penalties.
