RFP 08-27 ARENA REFRIGERATION SYSTEM REPLACEMENT

The City of Concord is soliciting qualified refrigeration contractors to de‑commission the existing ammonia/brine ice‑rink refrigeration plant at the Douglas N. Everett Arena and install a new high‑efficiency prefabricated ammonia/glycol system. The work includes demolition, hazardous refrigerant recovery, mechanical room coordination, installation of new compressors, heat exchangers, condensers, control systems, and full commissioning with training and warranty support. The project is slated to start mid‑March 2027 and finish late August 2027, with a total contract value expected in the high‑hundreds‑of‑thousands to low‑millions range. • De‑commission and remove existing ammonia refrigeration equipment, safely recover refrigerant and oil. • Install prefabricated ammonia/glycol refrigeration package (≈105 tons) with reciprocating compressors, plate‑and‑frame heat exchanger, pumps, VFDs, and control system (BACnet). • Provide all required permits, testing, safety signage, and compliance with ASHRAE, IIAR, and local codes. • Deliver shop drawings, as‑built documentation, O&M manuals, and one‑year warranty with emergency response. • Coordination with Turner Group (mechanical room design) and general contractor; all electrical load‑side work performed by the refrigeration contractor.
