Description

The City of Los Angeles is seeking a contractor to conduct an Alerting Improvement Feasibility Study to evaluate the effectiveness of current alerting systems and recommend new or expanded alerting functions. The study should consider outdoor warning systems, permanent message sign installation, and other resilient systems that can function during disasters. The contractor will review current alerting technologies, conduct research, and develop a comprehensive report with recommendations. The project is expected to last 7 months, and the contractor will work closely with the Emergency Management Department (EMD) project lead. Key considerations include communication strategies for multi-lingual communities and individuals with disabilities, access, and functional needs. • The contractor will conduct a community survey to gather feedback on alerting preferences and methods. • The contractor will research and evaluate alternative alerting technologies. • The contractor will develop a comprehensive report with recommendations for implementing new alerting systems. • The contractor will present findings to EMD management, City Emergency Management Coordinators, public safety leaders, and city leadership.
