Description

The Municipality of Anchorage is seeking a qualified contractor to expand the existing solar photovoltaic system at the Egan Convention Center. The project involves installing a roughly 36.4 kW grid‑connected solar array on the roof using a ballasted mounting system, completing all necessary permitting, utility interconnection, and providing comprehensive commissioning, training, and documentation. The work must be coordinated around the Center’s event schedule and completed within 180 calendar days after notice to proceed. • Install approximately 75 solar panels (≈ 36.4 kW) with ballasted mounting on the roof. • Provide all electrical work, including new panelboards, breakers, conduit, and a street‑level disconnect. • Secure all building, electrical, fire, and utility permits; deliver inspection certificates and a Certificate of Occupancy. • Deliver O&M manuals, spare‑parts list, 1‑year workmanship warranty, and a 10‑year manufacturer warranty; conduct on‑site training for MOA staff.

Budget estimate

$100,000 – $150,000

The solicitation does not disclose a contract value, but the executive summary states an estimated construction cost range of $100,000 – $150,000. Assuming the award will be near the high end of that range (typical for a fixed‑price solar installation of this size), the contractor could expect to earn roughly $100k–$150k in revenue, less overhead, materials, and profit margins. Therefore a realistic net earnings window is approximately $80,000 to $130,000 after accounting for labor, material costs, and typical profit margins (15‑25%).
