Prequalification for Major Equipment Suppliers - Generator Step-Up Unit (GSU) Transformer

The Washoe Hydroelectric Powerhouse Improvements project is seeking prequalification applications from major equipment suppliers for the Generator Step-Up Unit (GSU) transformer. The transformer will be an oil-filled 4160V-24,900KV (delta-wye) pad-mounted step-up transformer rated at 3500kVA with an estimated impedance of 5 to 8 percent. The project is being managed by RSCI, and all evaluations will be made by RSCI. • The transformer will be connected to the 4160V Metal Enclosed Load Interrupter Switchgear via underground ductbank on the low-side and to Vacuum Fault Interrupter (supplied by Others) on the high-side. • The transformer will be installed in a secondary oil containment structure. • A transformer protection scheme will be designed and will have the ability to trip the unit breakers and upstream line breaker in event of transformer related fault. • Special Federal Conditions will apply in order for this project to be eligible for Federal Tax Credits.
