Nevada Bids and Bidding Guide

Nevada state agency solicitations are posted on NEVADAePro, the eProcurement system run by the State Purchasing Division. Before any of that matters, though, there is a rule that disqualifies newcomers before they reach the proposal stage: to bid on a State of Nevada public works project you must already be licensed by the Nevada State Contractors Board at the time of bid opening. Proposal quality does not rescue a bidder who missed it.

Where Are Nevada RFPs Posted?

Nevada splits its public buying across a state system and a local cooperative, and confusing the two is the most common mistake in this state.

  • NEVADAePro — state agency solicitations from the Purchasing Division. Free vendor account required to respond.
  • Nevada Government eMarketplace (NGEM) — solicitations from participating local government entities. Free registration.
  • State Public Works Division — state building and infrastructure construction. Contractors Board license required before bid opening.
  • Clark and Washoe county portals — the largest single share of local contracting. Separate vendor registration.
  • City and school district sites — Las Vegas, Reno, Henderson, North Las Vegas and the districts. Registration varies by entity.

NGEM is frequently described — including by guides that should know better — as the State of Nevada's official procurement platform. It is not. NGEM is a cooperative marketplace shared by participating local government entities, and it is free to register on. State agency work runs through NEVADAePro under the Purchasing Division. If you sell to both layers, you need an account on each, because neither one surfaces the other's solicitations. Separately, the State Public Works Division handles state building and infrastructure projects and issues its own bid documents.

What Do You Need Before You Can Bid in Nevada?

  1. Register on NEVADAePro and select the commodity codes that describe what you sell. Registration is free, and the codes are what determine which solicitation notices you receive.
  2. If you are chasing public works, get licensed by the Nevada State Contractors Board first. The license must be active before the bid opening, so treat it as a prerequisite to searching rather than a step you take after you find a project.
  3. Apply for the Certificate of Eligibility to Receive Preference in Bidding on Public Works if you qualify. It requires an active Nevada contractor's license and executed affidavits, and it changes the arithmetic on close bids.
  4. Register separately with Clark County, Washoe County and the cities you want to sell to. Nevada has only 16 counties plus Carson City, so this is a short list — but state registration does not carry over to any of them.

Which Nevada Cities and Counties Issue the Most RFPs?

Nevada's contracting is unusually concentrated. Clark County alone covers most of the state's population, and two metros account for the overwhelming share of local buying. Carson City is worth noting as a special case: it is a consolidated municipality, functioning as both a city and a county-level government.

  • Clark County — Las Vegas metro infrastructure, aviation, public health; the largest local volume in the state.
  • City of Las Vegas — municipal facilities, public works, hospitality-adjacent services.
  • Washoe County — Reno and Sparks regional services, public safety, health and social services.
  • City of Reno — municipal infrastructure, redevelopment, technology and data center support.
  • City of Henderson — rapid residential growth: roads, parks, utilities, public facilities.
  • City of North Las Vegas — industrial and logistics development, utilities, municipal services.
  • Carson City — state capital functions plus consolidated city and county services.
  • Elko and Humboldt counties — mining support, rural infrastructure, roads.
  • Nye County — rural services across a very large geographic area, plus federal-adjacent work.
  • School districts — Clark County and Washoe County districts: facilities, transport, supplies, services.

How Do You Track Nevada Bids Across All These Portals?

NEVADAePro covers the state. NGEM covers participating local entities. Public Works runs its own. Then Clark and Washoe counties, four cities and the school districts each post separately — which is a dozen or more logins and a daily habit nobody sustains. Bid Banana searches 1.6M+ bids and awards from 4,000+ agencies across all 50 states, updated daily. Filter to Nevada and narrow by agency, industry or NAICS code, then save the search so new Nevada bids arrive in one email digest, daily or weekly, at the hour you pick. It is $49.99 a month or $479.99 a year, with a 7-day free trial.

Where Should You Start With Nevada RFPs?

  1. Settle the licensing question first. If public works is any part of your plan, the Contractors Board license is the gate, and everything else is wasted effort until it clears.
  2. Register on NEVADAePro and NGEM in the same sitting. They are separate systems, both free, and skipping one leaves half the market invisible to you.
  3. Add Clark and Washoe counties directly. Between them they account for most of Nevada's population and a corresponding share of its contract volume.

Nevada is a small field with a high concentration of buyers in two metros. That makes it unusually tractable once the licensing and registration groundwork is done — which is exactly why the groundwork is where most bidders lose.

FAQs

Where are Nevada RFPs posted?

State agency solicitations are posted on NEVADAePro, the eProcurement system run by the Nevada State Purchasing Division. The Nevada Government eMarketplace (NGEM) is a separate cooperative used by participating local government entities, and the State Public Works Division issues its own bid documents for state construction projects.

Do I need a license to bid on Nevada public works?

Yes, and this is the requirement that most often disqualifies newcomers. Anyone bidding on a State of Nevada public works project must be a qualified bidder, properly licensed by the Nevada State Contractors Board before the bid opening — not after award. Licensing takes time, so do not wait until you find the project.

What is the difference between NEVADAePro and NGEM?

NEVADAePro is the State Purchasing Division's own system, carrying solicitations from state agencies. NGEM is a cooperative marketplace used by participating counties, cities, districts and other local entities. They are different systems with separate registrations, and a vendor selling to both layers needs an account on each.

Can I get bidding preference in Nevada?

Potentially. Nevada offers a Certificate of Eligibility to Receive Preference in Bidding on Public Works. You need an active Nevada contractor's license and must submit executed affidavits proving eligibility. If you bid public works with any regularity it is worth completing before your next opportunity.

Which Nevada counties have the most contracting activity?

Clark County dominates, covering Las Vegas, Henderson and North Las Vegas, and accounts for the large majority of the state's population. Washoe County around Reno and Sparks is second. Carson City, Elko, Nye and Humboldt carry regional volume, much of it mining and infrastructure related.

What industries win the most Nevada contracts?

Common categories include construction and infrastructure, driven by growth around Las Vegas and Reno; hospitality and facilities services; mining support, particularly gold in the north; and logistics along the I-80 corridor. Data centers and advanced manufacturing are a growing source of work around Reno and Sparks.

Do I need to register to bid on Nevada contracts?

Yes. A NEVADAePro vendor account is required to respond to state solicitations, and NGEM needs its own free registration for local bids. For public works, you must also be licensed by the Nevada State Contractors Board by the time of bid opening.

How does Nevada evaluate bids?

On public works, contractors holding a Certificate of Eligibility to Receive Preference in Bidding on Public Works get a bidding preference; it requires an active Nevada contractor's license and executed affidavits.

How many Nevada bids close this week?

26 open Nevada bids close in the next seven days.

Does this include federal opportunities in Nevada?

Yes. 14 open federal solicitations from SAM.gov and other federal sources name Nevada as the place of performance. They are listed in their own section on this page.
