Call for Artist: Malden Pleasant Street Mural

The City of Malden Office of Strategic Planning and Community Development (OSPCD) is seeking an artist or team of artists to design and produce a mural to celebrate Malden's rich cultural diversity and stimulate community connection with Malden's new public art strategy. The mural will be located on Pleasant Street, on the wall under the Orange Line overpass. The selected artist will be awarded a total of $20,000 to cover supplies, artist fees, liability insurance, and all project costs. The project timeline includes a call for artists, a virtual information session, and a review of eligible submissions. The selected artist will be required to sign a grant agreement and provide a certificate of insurance. Key aspects of the project include: • Designing and producing a mural that reflects Malden's cultural diversity • Working with community input to create a visually impactful mural • Managing the project budget and schedule • Completing the mural by June 19, 2026 • Providing a draft project budget and confirmation of capacity to complete the mural within the budget and schedule
