Description
The Department of Energy is seeking a partner to commercialize the BlackBear technology, an open-source software for advanced simulation of structural integrity. BlackBear is a multiphysics simulation tool designed for modeling the behavior of structural materials under real-world conditions. It uses the MOOSE framework for its core capabilities to simulate the degradation of concrete and steel, which are integral to civil structures such as buildings, bridges, and dams. The advantages of BlackBear include accurate degradation modeling, comprehensive load response analysis, advanced multiphysics capabilities, flexible application, and being built on a robust framework. The applications of BlackBear include infrastructure longevity, safety assessments, research and development, and nuclear facility management.
Key features of the BlackBear technology include:
• Accurate degradation modeling of structural materials
• Comprehensive load response analysis under various service loading conditions
• Advanced multiphysics capabilities for realistic simulation results
• Flexible application for general civil infrastructure or specialized environments
• Built on the robust MOOSE framework for reliability and extensibility
