Description

The University of North Dakota’s Center of Process Engineering Research seeks a qualified contractor to transport and dispose of processed coal lignite residual material generated from a rare‑earth‑element pilot plant. The work involves moving non‑hazardous, leached and neutralized coal solids from the UND campus to an approved disposal facility, complying with all regulatory requirements, and providing full documentation for each shipment. Pricing is to be based on a 10‑ton unit, with optional rates for larger volumes, and the contract will run from September 2026 through December 2028. • Transport 10 tons of processed coal waste per unit; anticipated annual volume ≈ 100 tons. • Provide disposal/tipping fees, fuel surcharges, administrative fees, and any minimum charges. • Must hold appropriate transportation licenses, have access to approved disposal sites, and carry required insurance. • Deliver all required manifests, weight tickets, and disposal receipts for each shipment. • Submit a complete proposal by July 22, 2026, with service delivery from 9/1/2026 to 12/31/2028.

Budget estimate

$20,000 – $80,000

Based on typical industry rates for non‑hazardous coal waste transport and disposal (approximately $100‑$200 per ton), a 10‑ton unit would cost $1,000‑$2,000. Assuming the contract could cover up to 200 tons over the 28‑month period, the total contract value may range from $20,000 to $80,000, depending on volume discounts, fuel surcharges, and any administrative fees.
