AB1108 FORENSIC PATHOLOGIST SERVICES

The County of Riverside, on behalf of the Sheriff’s Office Coroner’s Bureau, is seeking a qualified forensic pathologist (or medical examiner) to perform autopsies and related reporting for in‑custody deaths mandated by California AB 1108. The contractor will handle an estimated 35‑40 cases per year, providing preliminary reports within five business days and final reports within thirty days (or sooner if toxicology results are pending). Services are to be performed at the County’s forensic centers in Perris and Indio, with weekly administrative updates and strict compliance with reporting to the Sheriff‑Coroner, Board of Supervisors, District Attorney, and County Health Officer. The initial contract term may be six months or one year, with an option to extend up to five additional one‑year increments. The award will be based on price, qualifications, and service quality, and the County reserves the right to consider factors beyond lowest price. • Perform autopsies for all in‑custody deaths meeting AB 1108 criteria (≈35‑40 cases/yr). • Deliver preliminary autopsy reports within 5 business days; final reports within 30 calendar days (or 30 days after lab results). • Provide weekly administrative status reports. • Work at Riverside County forensic facilities in Perris (800 S.
