Description

The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is issuing an Invitation for Bid to procure traffic control equipment—specifically traffic cones, traffic drums, and traffic channelizers—on an as‑needed basis. Vendors must submit detailed product specifications (brand, model, warranty, literature) and per‑unit pricing for each item type, including variations with or without bases. The solicitation is open to qualified suppliers who can meet MUTCD standards, deliver within 20 working days after order receipt, and invoice monthly. Bids are sealed and must be received by the close date. • Required items: traffic cones (minimum 100 per pallet), traffic drums (base and drum options, minimum 25 per lot), traffic channelizers (base and channelizer options, minimum 100 per lot). • Mandatory certifications: acceptance of MDT’s standard terms, single point of contact, nondiscrimination statement, and confirmation of business size/status. • No total contract value disclosed; award will be based on competitive per‑unit pricing and ability to meet delivery and technical specifications.

Budget estimate

$30,000 – $100,000

No fixed contract ceiling is published; however, typical state‑wide consumption of traffic control equipment suggests moderate annual spend. Assuming 500 cones at $30 each, 200 drums at $150 each, and 50 channelizers at $250 each, the annual procurement could range from roughly $30,000 to $100,000 depending on volume and pricing negotiations.
