AK0023213 – CBJ Juneau-Douglas Wastewater Treatment Facility

The Department of Environmental Conservation has prepared an individual APDES Preliminary Draft Permit for the CBJ Juneau-Douglas Wastewater Treatment Facility. The permit allows for the discharge of secondary treated domestic wastewater into Gastineau Channel. The proposed permit coverage includes a mixing zone for total ammonia as nitrogen, copper, dissolved oxygen, fecal coliform bacteria, enterococci bacteria, temperature, and whole effluent toxicity. • The average monthly discharge rate is 2.76 million gallons per day. • The discharge location is 58º 17’ 2” North latitude, 134º 23’ 13” West longitude. • The public review period is from August 14, 2026, to August 28, 2026. • Comments can be submitted during the public review period.
