Description

The United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) is seeking a Hybrid Upright/Inverted Fluorescence Microscope System, along with associated delivery, installation, and training services. The equipment must meet all minimum salient characteristics as described in the solicitation document. Key features of the microscope system include a modular research-grade inverted microscope stand, motorized high-precision Z-focus mechanism, motorized automated objective nosepiece/turret, and external touch-screen control interface. The system must also have fluorescence capabilities, including a motorized fluorescence filter turret and fluorescence filter cubes/sets compatible with standard biological stains. Some of the key points to consider are: • The microscope system must meet all minimum salient characteristics listed in the solicitation document. • The system must include a dedicated anti-vibration table specifically designed to ensure long-term stability during automated imaging. • The system must have a high-resolution, high-sensitivity scientific monochrome camera for fluorescence imaging. • The system must have computational clearing capabilities, including an advanced computational clearing algorithm designed to remove out-of-focus blur and haze from widefield images. • The system must have a dedicated high-performance processing workstation/PC to run the software and process images.

Budget estimate

$50,000 – $200,000

The budget for this opportunity is likely to be in the range of $50,000 to $200,000, considering the cost of a Hybrid Upright/Inverted Fluorescence Microscope System, which can range from $20,000 to $100,000, and the additional costs of delivery, installation, and training services. The actual budget may vary depending on the specific requirements of the solicitation and the quotes submitted by the offerors. Factors that may influence the budget include the complexity of the microscope system, the level of technical support required, and the competition among offerors.
