Tree Pruning and Removal Services

The City of Palo Alto is seeking a contractor to provide tree pruning and removal services for a period of 5 years. The scope of work includes pruning, removal, stump grinding, and other maintenance of trees, palms, and other woody plants along street corridors, parks, open spaces, and facilities within the City. The contractor will be required to perform the work in accordance with the City's specifications and standards. The contract will be awarded to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder. Key points to consider: • The contractor must have a valid California Contractor's License in the category of C-49, C-61, or D-49. • The contractor must comply with prevailing wage requirements and pay general prevailing wages as defined in California Labor Code Section 1773.1. • The contractor must provide proof of registration with the California Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) to perform public work. • The contractor must furnish a Performance Surety Bond and a Payment Surety Bond in the amount of 100% of the Contract Sum. • The contractor must obtain and maintain insurance with the coverage specified in the attachment regarding Insurance Requirements. Some of the key services that the contractor will be expected to perform include: • Programmed pruning of street and parkway trees • Demand pruning of trees that require work beyond typical pruning specifications • Tree and stump removal • Stump grinding • Debris removal and disposal The City will provide the contractor with a Notice to Proceed, and the contractor will be required to commence work within a specified timeframe. The contractor will be paid on a unit price basis for the various items of work, and the payment will include full compensation for furnishing all labor, materials, tools, equipment, and incidentals.
