The St. Charles County Government is seeking a qualified firm to provide design and engineering services for the expansion and renovation of the Police Crime Lab. The project involves a 5,000 square foot expansion and the repurposing of 2,000 square feet of the existing laboratory space. The selected firm will be responsible for inspecting existing conditions, preparing base drawings, and providing design and engineering services, including assessments and upgrades to the building envelope and systems. The firm will also be required to prepare construction drawings and specifications, and provide construction administration services. Key aspects of the project include: • Expansion of the laboratory footprint to alleviate space constraints • Construction of a one-lane indoor firing range • Dedicated bio/DNA evidence vault • Enhanced trace evidence examination rooms • Expanded biology and DNA analysis laboratory • Additional office space for staff • Upgrades to the existing facility, including improved flooring and enhancements to the evidence reception area The County is looking for a firm with experience in laboratory operations and projects, particularly those involving criminal/forensic/crime laboratories. The selected firm will be required to execute a professional services contract agreement and provide a certificate of insurance evidencing the required coverage.
