Description

The University of Iowa is seeking a supplier to provide commodity data storage solutions. The university has two primary areas that will order: Commodity-At-scale and Collegiate Research systems. The supplier must be able to provide three distinct storage profiles: ZFS storage nodes, Distributed filesystem storage nodes, and Distributed filesystem service/management nodes. The requirements are organized into common requirements and profile-specific requirements. The common requirements include dual/redundant power supplies, hot-swap storage trays, out-of-band management, and x86 hardware. The profile-specific requirements include onboard SAS controllers, external drive controllers, and hard disk drives. • The university is looking for a supplier that can provide a cost-effective solution with a high volume of usable space and low per TB cost. • The supplier must be able to provide all three storage profiles, ideally using a common chassis platform. • The university anticipates ordering for three distinct storage profiles over the life of the award agreement. • The supplier must be able to provide a solution that meets the common requirements and profile-specific requirements. • The university is looking for a supplier that can provide a solution that is compatible with both ZFS and distributed filesystem use.

Budget estimate

$500,000 – $2,000,000

The budget for this opportunity is difficult to estimate as the document does not provide a specific budget or pricing information. However, based on the requirements and the fact that the university is seeking a cost-effective solution, it is likely that the budget will be in the range of $500,000 to $2,000,000. This estimate is based on the assumption that the university will be purchasing a large amount of storage equipment and services, and the supplier will need to provide a competitive pricing to win the contract. Factors that may influence the likely payment range include the number of storage profiles required, the volume of usable space needed, and the level of customization required.
