The Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) is seeking proposals from architectural firms to provide professional design and construction administration services for the Damascus High School Major Capital Project. The project involves designing a new high school building with a capacity of 2,250 students. The selected firm will be responsible for all phases of design, from schematic design to construction documents, cost estimates, permitting, bid assistance, construction administration, and post-construction close-out. The firm must demonstrate relevant experience in designing educational projects, including high schools and elementary schools. The proposal should include a technical proposal, a separate sealed fee proposal, and a letter verifying compliance with mandatory requirements. Some key aspects of the project include: • Designing a new high school building with a capacity of 2,250 students • Providing all phases of design, from schematic design to construction documents • Ensuring compliance with all applicable codes and standards • Incorporating ground-source geothermal systems and being solar-ready to support the achievement of a net-zero energy building • Achieving Green Globes with a minimum of 2 globes • Coordinating with MCPS-hired consultants to integrate required building systems and components into the design • Preparing all required plans and securing necessary approvals to obtain permits • Conducting community engagement meetings to receive feedback and gather inputs from the community, staff, and stakeholders.
