Description

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is conducting market research to identify capable sources for a Whole-Slide Imaging (WSI) Scanner System. The system must meet specific technical requirements, including accommodating standard 1 in. × 3 in. glass microscope slides, providing automated bright-field whole-slide imaging, and including software for controlling the scanner and camera. The system must also include a high-quality digital image sensor and provide an image resolution of 0.50 micrometers per pixel or better. The FDA is seeking responses from companies that can provide a domestic end product meeting the requirements. • The system must meet or exceed the minimum technical requirements specified in the Sources Sought Notice. • The system must be newly manufactured, and used, refurbished, reconditioned, remanufactured, or demonstration units are not acceptable. • The system must include a motorized XY stage controlled by the system software and scan an area of at least 1 in. × 2 in. on each glass slide. • The system must include software for viewing, navigating, and reviewing whole-slide images. • The system must include sufficient data storage to save scanned whole-slide image files.

Budget estimate

$50,000 – $200,000

The budget for this opportunity is likely to be in the range of $50,000 to $200,000, considering the cost of a Whole-Slide Imaging Scanner System and the fact that the FDA is seeking a domestic end product. The actual budget may vary depending on the specific requirements of the FDA and the capabilities of the selected vendor. Factors that may influence the likely payment range include the complexity of the system, the brand and model of the equipment, and the level of customization required.
