The City of Asheville is pre‑qualifying prime contractors for a $7 million capital repair project involving two downtown parking garages (Harrah’s Cherokee Center Asheville and Biltmore Avenue). The work includes concrete removal and repair, corrosion mitigation, structural reinforcement, new traffic‑coating systems, guardrail and stair assembly replacement, and painting/striping. Qualified firms must be North Carolina‑registered general contractors with at least five years of structural restoration experience, able to self‑perform at least 50 % of the work, and meet bonding and insurance requirements. The pre‑qualification window runs from October 28 2026 (first submission) to November 13 2026, with construction anticipated to start March 2027 and last roughly twelve months.
