RFI - Novel or Multifunctional Fibers, Yarns, Coatings/Finishes and Fabrics for Soldier Protection and Comfort (MFFYF)

This Sources Sought (RFI) seeks information from industry on novel or multifunctional textile technologies—fibers, yarns, fabrics, coatings or finishes—that can enhance soldier protection and comfort across a range of harsh environmental conditions. Respondents must submit technical data, safety documentation, and physical samples (fabric yardage, yarn cones, or coated swatches) for evaluation. The Army will use the information to assess near‑term (TRL 5‑7+) drop‑in solutions and far‑term (TRL 2‑4) concepts for potential integration into future uniform platforms. • Required functionalities include moisture management, thermal protection/barrier, water/ice/oil repellency, vector protection, and flame resistance (PFAS‑free, no cyclic siloxanes, no heavy‑metal catalysts). • Submissions must include complete safety data sheets, Berry Amendment compliance statements, and test reports (mechanical strength, laundering durability, wicking, flame resistance, etc.). • Electronic response due 23 Dec 2026 5 PM EST; physical samples due 3 Feb 2027.
